I would say think about what you what theme you want. Lich is lots of undead, undead soldiers, undead companions, undead spells, etc etc. Aeon is Cosmic Judge, you get a Court, you make judgements and deal with things on more of a Cosmic scale. The Lich path culminates in you becoming a Lich, so refusing kind of puts a damper on that. Still, even if you accept being a Lich, the game doesn't stop you from making good choices.
